Steps to Follow

  1. Take 3 slow breaths: inhale 4, hold 4, exhale 6.
  2. Name the feeling silently.
  3. Check safety: if unsafe, escalate immediately.
  4. If allowed, step away for a quick reset.
  5. Drink water, stretch, breathe.
  6. Tell TL/on-call if still struggling.
  7. After shift: debrief, EAP, or talk to someone you trust.
